This very special Costa Rican coffee is comprised 100% of Villa Sarchi - a recently discovered variety of Arabica. It's a natural mutation of the much-loved Bourbon variety, grows particularly well in Costa Rica and was actually discovered on Finca La Luisa, the farm this coffee is from!

It will only take a couple of sips for you to become enamoured with Villa Sarchi and want to seek out more. This is classic Costa Rican coffee at its very best. You'll find nutty flavours in the cup that reminded us of pecans or walnuts, accompanied by a luxurious syrupy sweetness.

Rosetta Roastery have worked wonders with the profile. While it is light, it is definitely not lacking in body. Years later, he would still think about his first guitar. That Lenny Tribute Strat never sounded so warm - or so sweet - as it did that day the two first met. The maple neck balanced in his hand; the virgin scratchplate still smooth and clean.

This bean holds wonderful natural balance between sweetness, body, and gentle acidity. As a result, we can get away with roasting it a little lighter, and still present a profile that is clean, classic, and easy-drinking.

Ten years ago, microlots coming out of Costa Rica were virtually non-existent. Traceability was hard to establish, and the coffees produced were decent, but generic to a fault. But, over the last decade, brave, creative and pioneering coffee farmers and professionals in Costa Rica have formed the bold vanguard of the micro-mill movement that revealed the country to be a clear leader among the specialty coffee producers in Central America. Thanks to what coffee journalists have called “the Micromill revolution”, Costa Rica has been able to differentiate itself through their meticulously-run wet mills, as well as through the development of a range of honey-processed coffees (white honey, yellow honey, red honey and black honey) that have produced exciting new flavour profiles previously unheard of in the region. Finca La Luisa, named after the farmer's daughter, is the farm on which the variety Villa Sarchi was discovered. The farm is 1000 hectares in size; all coffee is harvested by hand and processed on the farm.
