It's always a great thing when our friends at Origin Coffee Roasting release some Ethiopian coffees. We've tried some of the best thanks to their sourcing and roasting, so we're always excited to try their new releases.
Historically, Yirgacheffe has captured much of the limelight when it comes to specific regional terroirs in the birth-country of coffee; however recently, we've noticed an increasing number of top quality Gujis on the market. As they've always done with Yirgacheffes, Origin has done an exceptional job of finding some of the best Gujis for us to try.
This particular Guji should have quite a broad appeal. It's got more body, more oomph if you will, than some of its Yirgacheffe brethren. It has some acidity and fruitiness to enjoy, but definitely in a more subtle and balanced fashion than some other Ethiopian coffees.
You may find some subtle notes of citrus in your cup, as well as a syrupy sweetness. These flavours combined with the body should make this coffee a crowd pleaser in most manual brew methods and espresso.
