For the last year or two, we've been privileged to be able to offer a few different coffees grown in Burundi and processed by the Long Miles Coffee Project. Each one of them has been a joy to drink, and this latest release from our friends at Legado confirms the trend - they seem to be getting better and better.
This one is actually quite different from the last LMCP coffee that Legado released as it is a fully washed coffee, whereas the previous one was a natural. With a more developed roast profile, our friends at Legado have brought out a wonderful treacly sweetness in this one that, in certain brew methods reminded us of malva pudding. As that comparison might make you expect, it also has a big body and while it's not quite as berry-driven as its natural predecessor, subtle hints of fruit like blackcurrant or plum are still there to tantalise your taste buds.
We expect this coffee to be a crowd pleaser. The classic coffee lovers are going to fall for its body and sweetness, and the more adventurous palates will enjoy exploring its more subtle notes. We enjoyed it most in an unadulterated French Press, where the lack of paper filtration lets the sweetness, body & acidity come through in a perfect flavour balance.
