Brazil is actually the world's biggest producer of coffee by volume, but most of the exports are commodity grade. Nevertheless, the sophisticated Brazilian coffee industry also produces some very high quality speciality crops. Our friends at Origin Coffee Roasting have always had a knack for finding some of the most interesting to share with us, and this one is no exception.

When we first ground this coffee, the aroma was unmistakable: peanut butter! While this wasn't exactly what translated into the cup, those flavours were no less delicious. The coffee has a smooth, silky, even velvety body. There are subtle hints of milk chocolate to enjoy, but it's the nutty notes that are most prominent. The brewed flavours reminded us more of macadamia or almond than peanut, but that nut butter quality was definitely still there. We'd highly recommend trying it in a French press, Aeropress or Chemex brew.

If you're wondering about the quirky name, which means '11 thousand virgins', it was actually inherited from the larger farm that this one used to be part of, which was comprised of 11,000 acres of virgin land.
