We receive fresh deliveries of these coffee beans several times per week. Please allow up to 2-3 working days after you order for dispatch in case we need to wait for the next delivery.

Please understand that if you buy green / unroasted coffee that it will need to be roasted before it can be ground or brewed. The unroasted coffee is labelled as such in the Bag Size drop down menu.

This Burundian single origin, roasted by our friends at Quaffee, is from the Long Miles Coffee Project, a venture set up by an American family who fell in love with Burundi on their travels and decided to build a washing station to help reward local farmers for their labours while also improving quality. Quaffee has worked with LMCP for almost a decade, as long as we've worked with Quaffee, in fact, and the coffees that have come from that collaboration have always been standouts.

LMCP has actually set up several washing stations in Burundi, and we've sampled coffees from all of them, but this lot is particularly interesting, as it's a blend of some of the best from all their washing stations. They are coffees that would have become microlots individually if there were a sufficient quantity, so instead are combined into what we think of a super microlot.

Like many of the best coffees from the LMCP washing stations, these coffees were processed naturally, so they should offer some delicious fruity flavours to savour.

Phaedon's tasting notes

This is quite a quirky coffee that seems to favour longer steep times. I had my best results in my MoccaMaster, my French press and my AeroPress with the aid of a fair bit of agitation. My siphon also extracted delicious results, probably more because of higher temperatures than higher times.

With those maximised extractions, what I enjoyed most about the coffee was the full, almost waxy mouthfeel. The fruit notes are subtle but undeniably there, with a malic acidity, some stone fruit and a hint of citrus. The sweetness reminds me of honey. In my MoccaMaster brew, I also picked up a hint of cherry.

Last but not least, I returned to this coffee for a late morning moka pot, and it was delicious, despite a longer than ideal time from roast. It made a sweet, syrupy shot with some citrus flavour. Although I haven't tasted it in real espresso, I expect that it will be delicious that way too!
