We only receive deliveries of these coffee beans once per week, so you may need to wait up to a week for dispatch.
There are few coffees that could elicit quite this much excitement from the team at CCB. We've been privileged enough to work through a couple of bags of this coffee (at an alarming rate), and we're pleased to be able to share it with the small number of customers who can buy one soon.
About Yemeni coffee
While Ethiopia is believed to be the birthplace of coffee, you could say that Yemen was the birthplace of the coffee trade. The Islamic world enjoyed coffee, long before it ever made it to the west, and it was via the port of Mokha, in Yemen, that the earliest beans and plants were exported to the rest of the world. In fact, the word 'mocha' which we associate with coffee, comes from the name of that port.
There is a long and rich history of coffee cultivation in Yemen, centuries of it in fact. Sadly, in recent years, Yemeni coffee has been virtually impossible to find, because of conflicts in the country. Thankfully this started to change recently, as a result of the efforts of a few inspiring entrepreneurs. For more on that story, we'd recommend you read The Monk of Mokha. To understand how special Yemeni coffee is, we'd suggest you buy a bag of this special limited release.
About this Yemeni coffee
Jaw-dropping, mouth-watering, awe-inspiring. These are some of the adjectives that come to mind when trying to describe the aroma and flavour of this coffee. You only need to open the bag to be transported. A heavily perfumed, sweet, strawberry-like aroma wafts out and lingers long after you're done grinding and drinking.
If you brew it right, which we'd recommend doing in a paper-filtered method like a V60, Chemex or Aeropress, those strawberry notes carry straight through to the palate. They're accompanied by syrupy sweetness, some subtle tea-like aromatics, and the occasional hint of stone fruit, citrus and a lingering milk chocolate.
This is a special occasion coffee. Buy a bag and savour it.
How to order - dispatch every Thursday
Because this coffee is rare and special, it is only roasted once per week, on a Wednesday, and then dispatched on Thursdays. This ensures that what you're getting is fresh, but it also means you have to be a little patient, particularly if you order after Wednesday mid-day. Orders placed before mid-day on Wednesdays will be dispatched that Thursday.
Please note that if there are other items in your order, we will wait and dispatch your whole order together.
A fruit like acidity and a heavy syrupy mouthfeel; lots of cooked fruit flavour with strawberry, orange, chocolate and floral rose flavours. A complexity coffee with acidity and sweetness signing truer through the coffee brew.
