While the brand’s compact, heat-exchange machines initially put the Italian manufacturer on the coffee map, Rocket also offers feature-rich solutions for commercial-style performance at home. For dedicated home baristas looking for a highly capable setup, the Rocket R58, also known as the R Cinquantotto, offers a dual-boiler system and a near-silent rotary pump. It represents a substantial and reliable upgrade for espresso enthusiasts.

The R58 TUNE is the latest iteration of the R Cinquantotto, which translates to ‘fifty-eight’ in Italian. This name is a nod to both the machine's 0.58-litre dedicated brew boiler and its industry-standard 58mm portafilter. Designed for simultaneous brewing and steaming, the dual-boiler setup features independent PID controls managed via a magnetically attached touchscreen interface. Alongside this detachable ‘communication pod’, the R58 TUNE retains the thoughtful finishing touches the Cinquantotto series is known for: height-adjustable feet, cool-touch steam and hot water wands, and classic dual analogue gauges to monitor brew and steam pressure at a glance.

Inside, the TUNE’s boilers are constructed from brass and copper for superior heat retention. The 0.58-litre brew boiler works alongside a 1.8-litre steam boiler, providing consistent steam pressure even while extracting espresso. Each boiler is powered by a 1,400W heating element, managed by a system with a maximum concurrent draw of 1,550W to remain home-kitchen friendly. This setup is paired with proven commercial-style features, including a quiet rotary pump with the flexibility to use the 2.5-litre internal reservoir or plumb directly into your water mains.

To adjust the R58 TUNE's settings, this Rocket machine includes a magnetically attached digital touchscreen ‘communication pod’. This interface allows for straightforward control over the PID-enabled boilers and provides a live shot timer for monitoring your extraction. It also features a programmable automatic on/off schedule, allowing you to set the machine to heat up before your morning routine. If you prefer a strictly mechanical aesthetic while brewing, the communication pod is fully detachable—letting you tuck the screen away and enjoy the classic form factor of the R58 on your countertop.

What’s new with the Rocket R58 TUNE

The R58 TUNE evolves Rocket’s established dual-boiler platform by introducing a three-phase TUNE system. This espresso machine allows you to set pre-programmed times for pre-infusion and post-infusion at a fixed pressure. The gentle 3-bar pre-infusion ensures even puck saturation and reduces the risk of channelling during the main extraction phase, while the 3-bar post-infusion finishing stage gently tapers off extraction to minimise unwanted bitterness. By managing these variables, you have the precise tools needed to tailor each shot to a specific coffee.

Alongside the internal upgrades, the machine introduces a practical workflow improvement for the home barista. Rather than rotating a traditional knob several times, the new push-turn valves allow you to simply press the knob for a quick, single-tap purge, or turn it to lock in full, continuous pressure for steaming milk or dispensing hot water.

Included with Rocket R58 TUNE Espresso Machine

Magnetic touchscreen communication pod

Two 58mm portafilters; single- and double-spouted

Three portafilter baskets; single, double, and blind

Rocket-branded heavy-duty metal tamper

Plumbing kit, water inlet & waste drain hoses

Water-testing strips

Cleaning brush & microfibre cloth

USB dongle with ‘digital welcome pack’

Rocket R58 TUNE Espresso Machine features

Dual copper boiler system with brass end plates

Dual PID control for greater temperature stability

Detachable PID touchscreen panel

Automatic on/off settings

Digital shot timer

Full-sized commercial rotary pump

Internal reservoir or direct water connection

Height-adjustable feet

Stainless steel chassis designed by V12 Studio

Cool-touch wands

Quick purging with push-turn knob for steam & hot water

Removable stainless steel cup warmer

Low water indication system

Programmable 3-bar pre- & post-infusion via the TUNE system

Group head thermosyphon for temperature stability

Dual analogue manometers for both brew & steam pressure

Rocket R58 TUNE Espresso Machine specifications

Brew boiler capacity: 0.58L

Steam boiler capacity: 1.8L

Water supply: 2.5L internal reservoir or direct plumb-in (kit included)

Pump type: Rotary

Temperature control: Dual PID (via magnetic touchscreen pod)

Power: 1,550W (2 x 1,400W heating elements)

Voltage: 220–240V, 50/60 Hz

Dimensions: W 408* x D 440 x H 385 mm *includes display pod

Weight: 29.0 kg

Materials:

Body: polished stainless steel

Boilers: Copper with brass end plates
