Coffee is a real passion for us, for many of our customers and many people around the world. While most people drink coffee, if you've been bitten by the speciality coffee bug, you can't help but continue to explore all the amazing facets of our beloved beverage. We've always supported our community in their exploration of different types of coffee, and in brewing. We're now very excited to launch an offering for the aspiring coffee roaster!

About our green / unroasted offerings

We're taking a similar approach to our green coffee offering as we have with our roasted beans and brewing equipment. We want to offer you a curated selection of top quality unroasted beans, rather than a broad range which is a mixed bag.

We're taking this a little further as well, in that we're going to try to offer green unroasted coffee beans that you might not be able to find elsewhere. Everything will be in the speciality range of cup scores and we're going to do our best to select very special coffees within that category.

Our green bean offerings will be available in 500g and 2kg bags. You can use the drop down to select the amount you'd like to buy.

Rwanda Nkora - Our First Green Bean Offering

We blind cupped many coffees in the process of selecting our first unroasted coffee beans, and this Rwandan single origin really stood out. We're quite excited that the coffee is as interesting on paper as it is in the cup.

Nkora is actually Rwanda's very first washing station and has been in operation since 1957, serving 4,377 farmers, their families and the surrounding community. Much has been done to continuously improve the quality of the coffee since the washing station began operating. They've also invested in social ventures such as a micro-hydro power station and a preschool for the community's children.

Processing is done using a 4 disc Mckinnon pulper, before the coffee is dry fermented for 12 hours. It is then wet soaked for 8 hours before being density graded using water channels. Finally, the coffee is dried on raised beds for approximately 15 days before being transported to the Rwanda Trading Company dry mill in Kigali for export.
