Burundi has been gaining a stronger and stronger reputation among South African roasters (and drinkers) of speciality coffee, so it's great to see a Burundian release from one of our most popular roasters!
This relatively light roast by Truth allows lots of complex fruit flavours to come through in immersion brews like the French Press or Aeropress. There's a definite citrus acidity and then a medley of syrupy sweet notes that sometimes reminded us of berries and sometimes of stone fruit, particularly in hotter brews that highlighted the tangy acidity.
This is quite a dense bean and light roast, so we'd recommend longer immersion extraction times. You may battle with very long brew times in a pour-over because of the density of the bean.
A full bodied coffee with a lemon zesty acidity. This coffee has notes of blackcurrant, cherry and hints of strawberry and a semi floral aroma to finish off the cup.
