While the original Bialetti Moka Express may be the most instantly recognisable with its iconic octagonal shape, in the last couple of decades, the slightly more elegant and contemporary Venus has started to steal some of its limelight. With its smooth curves and stainless steel body, the Venus is hardier, somewhat sleeker and also induction-compatible. No wonder many people are choosing this newer model.
Now, Bialetti is offering a bright upgrade to the younger member of its family with the Venus in colour. Virtually identical to the Venus except for the striking colours, it has a long-lasting metallic finish achieved through Physical Vapour Disposition (PVD), making it hard-wearing and long-lasting. It is currently available in blue and copper, in two different sizes!
Bialetti Venus size guide
As with most moka pots, the Bialetti Venus comes in a variety of sizes. When choosing your size, please bear in mind that each cup corresponds roughly to a ~30ml concentrated shot. To make it longer, many people will dilute the concentrate for an Americano style coffee.
Almost all stovetops work best when brewed at full capacity so pick a cup size that will correspond to the number of people you want to serve (or half that amount if you like doubles).
Here are our recommendations in terms of number of people being brewed for:
- 1 person - 2 cup
- 1/2 people - 4 cup
- 2/3 people - 6 cup
These yield estimates are based on our own experimentation but may vary depending on the amount of coffee used, the amount of water used, the specific coffee you're using and the grind consistency.

A Beauty!
I'm delighted with my first Venus moka pot, I already have three classic aluminium units. My Bronze pot is a visual delight and is well made. My main practical reason for buying this is the ease of cleaning, which has proven to be so. An added bonus is that I find that it brews more quickly than the traditional aluminium versions. This pot works like a charm on my single plate induction cooker. Takes about 2 minutes to brew. So easy to clean also, just rinse with water and dry with a dishcloth. Typical Bialetti good quality, solid build quality. Very satisfied.
Stylish pot making the best coffee
This pot is firstly a work of art. It presents really well. Then its sturdy construction gives you confidence during use. The practical and ergonomic lid on top makes peeking inside very easy without getting heat on your hand. The lid is the most vulnerable to damage though. ******** the unit closed is easy; the 6 cup version fits nicely in my hand for a good grip. Making the coffe is easy. Once the gurgling sound is heard the process is done. The coffee it produces using even a nonsence (blade) grinder is superb: the taste is rich and lingers in your mouth in the most beautiful way. Perfectly balanced. It makes two strong cups of coffee, the way I like it. You can get three smaller cups max. Cleaning is easy. I do think these pots are overpriced in terms of the materials used (it is thin steel plate...) but get it that this is probably like the Rolls Royce of moka pots, in terms of brand cachet. Look out for a special offer to get better value for money. But then again, you will find nothing on the market that can get you such good coffee at the price.!
