Espresso Consultant
Cape Coffee Beans is South Africa's leading retailer in the speciality coffee space, both online and offline, and has been recognised as one of the country's top eCommerce companies. If you are an ambitious and experienced coffee professional, with a genuine passion for speciality coffee, we have just the opportunity for you...
Opportunity Overview
One of our newest and most promising areas of focus is espresso equipment. We have already had great success helping customers select and purchase the right espresso machines, grinders and accessories for home and for commercial setups, and we want to build on this momentum. As an independent retailer, we're in a great position to offer advice and help prospective clients choose the right equipment for their needs. Our goal is not just to sell products, but to really aid our customers in getting set up and making great coffee.
To help expand this side of the business, we're looking for someone to join the team as our Espresso Consultant. The role will involve helping in all aspects of the espresso equipment business. This would include sales, customer service and training, by phone, by email, via live chat, in person at our store, and on site with our customers.
Job Description
We're looking for someone with proven experience working with espresso equipment in commercial environments, who knows their way around all types of machines. While you don't necessarily have to know all of the brands we work with already, you will need to have broad enough exposure to get up to speed with less familiar equipment quickly. A genuine passion for speciality coffee is essential, as is a real desire to provide our customers with the best possible experience.
As we are still a small and quickly growing company, to succeed as our Espresso Consultant, you need to be highly self-sufficient and comfortable working independently. You will also need to be ready to help members of the team with other areas of the business when required, so being a bit of a jack/jane of all trades is important, as is being flexible.
We pride ourselves in our interactions with our customers, so you'll need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as a friendly personality. You will also need to help with the day to day running of the business, so strong admin skills and comfort working with software systems are also important.
The pace at Cape Coffee Beans can be fast and our standards are very high, so ideal candidates will relish a bit of a challenge. While we do our best to structure and plan, as a business that literally serves thousands of customers, our workload will vary and many days provide surprises. It's important that you have a positive disposition and enjoy solving problems, even if they land on your plate unexpectedly. We take our work seriously, but we also aim to have fun doing it!
Our Espresso Consultant will be based at our headquarters in Claremont, Cape Town. Work will take place during standard business hours, Monday to Friday, though there is room for some flexibility around this. This is a full time position, and you may occasionally need to work weekends to help the team.
Working here would provide an unmatched opportunity to dive deep into the South African coffee industry. We work with many of the best roasters and equipment suppliers. You would be part of a rapidly growing and unique business, with plenty of opportunity to make a big impact. We also drink a lot of really good coffee.
If all of this sounds like an exciting opportunity for you and a good fit for your skills, personality and attitude, please do take the time to fill out an online application and help us get to know you.
