Bialetti moka pots are our most popular coffee makers, and that's not in the least bit surprising, given that they're the most popular coffee maker globally! They've been around since the 1930s, and still offer an elegant, simple way to make a concentrated, espresso-like cup of coffee at home.

Of course Bialetti has expanded its range significantly since the release of the original Moka Express. Many new buyers of a Bialetti moka pot have a tough decision on their hands. Do they go for the aluminium classic, or perhaps something more modern like the equally popular Bialetti Venus in stainless steel?

Bialetti has recently simplified that decision with the release of the Bialetti Moka Induction; you can think of it as the best of both worlds. The top of the Moka Induction has the same classic, aluminium, octagonal shape of the original Moka Express. However the bottom is made of stainless steel like on the Venus. That doesn't only offer advantages in terms of wear and tear, it also makes it compatible with any stovetop including induction!

Bialetti has also taken the opportunity to upgrade some of the finer details. For instance the handle and top knob on the Moka Induction are made of silicone rather than plastic. They've also made this unit available in a range of beautiful colours.

Size guide

At the moment, the Bialetti Moka Induction is only available in the 6 cup size, with each cup corresponding roughly to a ~30ml concentrated shot. We usually recommend 2-3 of these shots per person, so this size is ideal for two people sharing a short coffee. To make a longer coffee, many people will dilute the concentrate for an Americano or add warm or frothed milk for a latte or cappuccino.

These yield estimates are based on our own experimentation but may vary depending on the amount of coffee used, the amount of water used, the specific coffee you're using and the grind consistency.
