This product typically takes 1-2 working days to dispatch

Please note that espresso grinders are tested before dispatch. This may result in some residual coffee grounds in the grinder. Rest assured that this is a brand new product that has been tested to ensure optimal performance

Rancilio has been making commercial espresso equipment since the 1920s, but in 1998 they began a revolution in home espresso brewing with the Rancilio Silvia Espresso Machine. With the Rocky, they not only provide the perfect espresso grinder companion for the Silvia, but also an all around great option for home espresso grinding with any machine.

The Rocky achieves the same objectives as the Silvia - professional-grade, reliable equipment in a simple no-frills package. The Rocky features 50mm flat, tempered stainless steel burrs for a highly consistent grind across 55 different grind settings. These are selected simply by turning the upper chamber and using the number display, allowing you to dial in espresso, or even grind coarse enough for a French Press if you're so inclined.

There are two versions of the Rocky grinder - one without a doser (recommended for home use) that simply grinds straight into your portafilter. The version with the doser allows you to grind into the dispenser which then will provide the exact amount of coffee for a single shot with one flick of the lever or a double with two.

For an affordable but nevertheless serious espresso grinder for home, you can't go wrong with the Rancilio Rocky!

Grinder setting

I have my grinder set at 16. Has anyone tried finer? What is the advantage going finer? I have the Rocky grinder and Silvia shot maker. Thank you

Cape Coffee Beans

Hi there! You probably would go finer than that for some coffees. The advantage of going finer is a fuller extraction. A good way to test if you've gone fine enough is to time your shot. Are you getting to the desired volume within 20-30s? Then that's probably in the right range. Someone on the time will be in touch to see if they can help you fine tune.

Rocky II

We sold our 1st Rocky as a combo with our old espresso machine . But after reading many reviews and researching other imported models available, the knock-out was delivered by Rocky. So with Eye of the Tiger in the background, the grind continues. The machine is super fast, easy to operate and adjustment is accurate and secure.

Rancilio Rocky Espresso Grinder

Started off by using the Hario V60, great machine but the grind isn't fine enough for expresso. Was later advised by Adrian from Rancilio (Windtrade) and purchased the Rocky, robust little machine and built like a tank. The grind is much finer and the expresso taste much better.

Good... But...

Nice grinder that I got as a birthday present. OnlineCoffeeShop salesperson advised me to get the doserless version, due to being used at home. I am very happy I got it. Originally I was going for the cafe style of wanting my grinder to also go "clack-clack-clack" while dosing. However, when adjusted to espresso grind size, because of the plastic funnel, clumping does occur, and it drives me nuts. I have tried DIY fixes, but nothing has lasted. It seems idiotic that such a well known Italian espresso / coffee company would have such a large oversight. With other grinders the coffee grounds fall directly into to the portafilter. Therefore, if this is your first prosumer grinder, and you're willing to upgrade in +- 2 years, go for it. But it's been 6 years for me, but haven't had the courage to fork out R8-R12k. If I could, I'd look and reconsider the Baratza Sette 270 more seriously. I have also had some issues with grind consistency, but that could just be from the burrs not wearing down evenly. I haven't delved deeper into finding a reason. But alas, I haven't purchased something else. So definitely not a bad machine. It is also small enough, to pop it back in the box and travel to a friend to make coffee there.
