Opportunity overview

We are looking for a talented writer and content creator with a genuine passion for specialty coffee to join our team. The role will involve working closely with CCB's founder to create product pages, newsletter campaigns, blog posts and other type of content.

We are open to different types of work arrangements including full time, part time or freelance, as well as onsite or remote work (or a combination of both). The most important thing for us is to find the right person. 

Job description & candidate characteristics

We're not necessarily looking for years of experience, but we need someone with excellent copywriting skills, as well as an established knowledge of specialty coffee. To create content for Cape Coffee Beans, you have to really understand our space. While you don't need to know every product we offer, you do need to have a real, personal interest in what we do and what we sell.

While copywriting is the key content creation skill required, experience with other types of content such as images, video and audio would be helpful. Even if you haven't worked with other media, you need to be ready to tackle some of the basics such as image editing. You also need to be able to do (or learn) some basic html.

The scope of the role would include (but wouldn’t necessarily be limited to):

• Drafting product pages
• Drafting email marketing campaigns
• Drafting blog posts
• Creating social media content
• Contributing to other types of advertising campaigns
• Generating creative ideas for future content & campaigns
• Creating, managing and executing on a content calendar

While you would primarily be dealing with the items mentioned above, we're a small team and so we all have to pitch in on other aspects of the business at some point, including interacting with customers online and in store. You also may occasionally be required to help creating content outside of the coffee space for some of our other business interests.

To succeed in this role, you must have:

• A genuine interest in specialty coffee (instant-drinkers need not apply)
• Excellent, proven copywriting skills
• An ability to adapt your style of writing
• Excellent organisational skills
• Great attention to detail
• An appetite and strong aptitude for learning
• A positive disposition towards feedback
• A high level of motivation
• A high degree of reliability

It would also be helpful (but not necessarily essential) to have:

• Photo editing skills
• Experience with Shopify
• Experience with MailChimp
• Video editing skills
• Experience in the coffee industry
• Experience in eCommerce and/or retail
• Web development and design skills
• SEO experience and/or skills
