About the Flair PRO 3 Espresso Maker

The shape of the Flair PRO 3 is reminiscent of the original Flair Espresso Maker, but now in its 3rd edition, the PRO series sets out to integrate absolutely everything a meticulous home barista could want. It has a heavy-duty cast aluminium and stainless steel body, accompanied with nice finishing touches like a silicone grip on the lever. It also integrates a pressure gauge to perfectly execute pressure-profiled extractions and an articulated mirror to make it easy to monitor what's going on under the group.

Flair has also implemented a series of innovations in and around the brewing head. Using a new stainless steel, thin-walled design, the cylinder no longer requires pre-heating. It also includes a removable stainless steel spout and stem with pressure gauge. It fits perfectly onto a copper portafilter base which is designed for use with its 46mm stainless steel, bottomless portafilter.

Some people have a preference for a 58mm portafilter, as it has become the industry standard in commercial machines, but true espresso nerds will remind you that this is a matter of convention rather than optimisation. Some premium and iconic home espresso machines still use smaller group heads and, more importantly, a smaller diameter has the potential to improve extraction dynamics because of the deeper pucks.
