About the wire membrane shower screens
This shower screen is made up of steel wires that are woven into a membrane. The outer ring of the shower screen is then folded over the edges in order to hold the mesh in place without having to weld any parts. The main feature of this shower screen is the exceptional filtering power of 35µM. This ultra-fine filtering power allows for a more even and consistent flow rate and more homogenous saturation of your ground coffee, which in turn improves extraction.
About the integrated membrane shower screens
The integrated membrane shower screen uses a precision-engineered stainless steel filter with a filtering power of 200µM. This fine filtering is achieved through a process of photo-etching whereby special micro-perforations are made on the inside of the shower screen. Not only does this exclusive design achieve exceptional performance, but it also makes it hard-wearing and easy to clean.
NB: The Rancilio Integrated Membrane is only compatible with the Rancilio Silvia and Rancilio Classe 5. It is not compatible with the Rancilio Silvia Pro X.

Didn't notice any improvements in espresso extraction, but that says more about me. Much easier to clean than OEM lelit screen. Disperses water very evenly. Didn't have to remove it yet.i hope it's easier than the original.

I bought the Rancilio version for my Pro X. Its very nicely made as you would expect from IMS. Some caveats though, this version does not fit easily onto the brass shower holder. It feels like its ever so slightly too small, rocking on the holder. When I first installed it and tested I definitely had water passing over the edge of the screen where it "connects" with the holder. After removing it again I found that "working it" onto the holder eventually it sat straight and tight. Where the stock screen would fall off the holder unless ******* in. This screen sit so tight you need to use your nails or a twist of a screw driver to get it off the holder. After that the bypass was gone or so little I didn't notice it. Only pulled a couple of shots but so far they have been good, a little over extracted so need to work out my timing a little.
