Eureka is one of the most reputable manufacturers in the espresso grinder space, both domestic or commercial, but we must admit, we love the brand most for its amazing Mignon range of domestic grinders. They build incredible quality and reliability into a beautiful tiny package, specifically made for use at home. They are very good value for money across the range, but the Manuale version makes a Mignon grinder affordable for any home barista.

The Eureka Mignon Manuale is actually very similar to the popular Silenzio grinder. It has the same build, the same burrs, the same form factor, and just a slightly smaller motor. It basically has everything that makes the Silenzio a stellar choice for home baristas. The main difference it that it strips away the timed dosing, offering a completely manual model instead, but allowing the grinder to come in at a much more affordable price.

It is a fantastic choice for anyone making espresso at home on a budget, who still really values quality and consistency. If you are single dosing and using a scale (which we would recommend), the removal of the time-based dosing should make absolutely no difference at all. It isn't just a one-trick pony though. While it is designed with espresso in mind, it will perform very well on coarser grind settings*, making it a very good choice for filter style brews as well.

Like the other Mignon grinders, the Manuale is relatively quiet, has stepless micrometric adjustments and features the Eureka ACE anti-clumping technology. Combine this with a convenient, removable portafilter holder and a hardened steel 50mm burr set, and you have a solid foundation for any kind of coffee making you want to execute in the comfort of your own home.

* A note on grinding for manual brewing

While this Eureka grinder is very capable of producing high-quality grinds at many different grind settings, the adjustment dial is calibrated to make it very easy to fine-tune for espresso. It is not ideal for going back and forth between manual brew settings and espresso settings, as it required multiple turns of the dial to do so. That means you may need to spend a bit of time and coffee testing to get back to where your desired setting.
