As the brainchild of 2015 World Barista Champion Sasa Sestic, Nucleus Coffee Tools has one simple goal: to use science to improve the quality of your coffee in ways you didn't even know were possible. While most enthusiasts associate WDT (Weiss Distribution Technique) with espresso, the Nucleus Bloom is the first pour-over-specific distribution tool designed to eliminate stalled or unpredictable brews. It may be designed for pour-over brewing, but we think the Bloom is also versatile enough to be an excellent addition for espresso puck preparation as well.

The Nucleus Bloom offers a refined approach for pour-over lovers looking to achieve an even extraction. It addresses the common issue of uneven drawdowns with a dual-configuration set of retractable needles. This allows you to switch between a straight configuration designed to reach inside conical brewers and break up clumps, and a fanned configuration intended for flat-bottom brewers. Integral to this design are the carefully chosen, titanium nitride-coated needles. Beyond just breaking up clumps, these needles are designed to lift chaff and other light, non-soluble materials, drawing them to the surface using static. By moving these fine particles away from the bottom of the filter, the Bloom helps prevent clogging and ensures a faster, more consistent drawdown.

Unique to the Bloom is the patented FlowTip, a pointed tool located on the reverse end. Intended for conical drippers only, it is used to create a divot in your bed of coffee, improving pre-infusion and promoting even saturation from your first pour, whilst also reducing the risk of channelling.
