Since 2017, our friends at Rosetta Roastery have sourced coffee from the Indonesian coffee farm Frinsa Estate and its owners, Wildan Mustofa and Atieq Mustikaningtyas. Located in the Bandung highlands of West Java, Frinsa grows, collects, and processes specialty coffees on-site while guiding the practices of its partner farmers. Now run by Wildan and Atieq's son, Fikra, the estate is unique for its use of parabolic drying houses instead of following Indonesia's traditional wet-hulled “giling basah” style.

Frinsa Estate has long maintained a methodical and creative approach to both coffee cultivation and processing. By prioritising ecological sustainability and exceptional cup quality, Frinsa consistently produces rare varieties of Indonesian coffee. These unique offerings keep green traders and roasters like Rosetta returning to the estate year after year.

We’ve been privileged to offer each iteration of Rosetta’s Frinsa Estate coffees, and we are always excited to try their latest lots. This particular coffee is composed of various Indonesian varieties processed together using the fully-washed method. Once roasted, this approach results in a lighter body than traditionally processed Indonesian coffees. Rosetta is no stranger to expertly teasing out the familiar, balanced flavour notes for which Frinsa is celebrated.

Rosetta’s notes

Style: Classic
Flavour: Full & rich, Lemongrass, black tea

“Wildan’s coffees have long challenged expectations of Indonesian cup profiles, with a processing approach that continues to push beyond convention.

During the roast, we extend development after the initial soak phase, encouraging prolonged caramelisation to maximise sweetness while preserving vibrancy and subtle red fruit notes in the cup. The result is a layered coffee, with notes of cooked rhubarb and black tea on the finish, delivering a balanced and expressive brewing experience.”

Coffee details from Rosetta

“Produced by Wildan Mustofa and his wife, Atieq Mustikaningtyas, at Frinsa Estate, this coffee reflects a long-term focus on quality and traceability. Wildan has led Frinsa for 16 years, with our sourcing relationship spanning over 8 years. Frinsa Estate has developed into a fully integrated operation, with a wet mill, dry mill, and storage facilities all on site. This allows full traceability from harvest through to export, with lots separated by cultivar, field location, and picking date.

Across multiple sites in West Java, Frinsa cultivates a wide range of varieties, including Ateng Super, P88, Borbor, Sigarar Utang, and Lini S-795, alongside ongoing cultivar experimentation and collaboration with local smallholders. The estate also supports reforestation and water conservation initiatives.”
