The Tarakea Cooperative in the Rombo District of Kilimanjaro was established in 1983. What makes this cooperative unique is that the smallholder farmers all take process their coffee from home, instead of at a communal washing station. This small batch processing allows farmers to be far more detail-oriented in their coffee processing.

This coffee is sweet and vibrant while still offering a comforting flavour profile that should be enjoyable even to the casual coffee drinker's palate. The Tarakea Cooperative takes pride in ensuring that all its coffee is grown and harvested using environmentally and socially responsible practices.

Nice everyday coffee

I don't drink this coffee very often but it's my goto to serve to guests. Its a great safe option with just enough intrigue for non-enthusiasts to get hooked.

Coffee not too strong, but strong enough. Having Uganda Drugar now, but thinking of trying SA Coffee from KZN soon

Disappointing

Maybe it was the brew batch but I found the Kilimanjaro almost 'burnt' and certainly not sweet and definitely no 'creamy caramel flavours'. Brewed with the Aeropress, tried different strengths but still got that bitterness on the side of the tongue. No floral notes, no citrus, just rather bland. My go to is Yurgacheff so maybe it's the contrast, but overall I was disappointed.
