This product typically takes 1-2 working days to dispatch

The Hario Skerton has been one of the driving forces behind the resurgence in manual coffee grinders. A new take on the classic hand-cranked grinders our parents and grand-parents used, this little piece of equipment is a wonderful tool in brewing delicious coffee while also getting more in touch with the coffee making process.

The Skerton Coffee Grinder houses a conical ceramic burr. This helps to ensure a consistent grind which is very important when brewing coffee. It has an adjustable setting which means you can grind for most manual brew methods.

Made by Hario, a Japanese manufacturer known for the quality of its coffee brewing equipment and accessories, the construction is very durable and reasonably portable. A non-slip base helps to hold the grinder in place while grinding and a removable jar with a separate lid gives an easy way to transport some ground coffee.

Whether it's a first, a portable or a secondary grinder, the Hario Skerton is a fantastic choice!

Hard work

This grinder works well and seems to be a good idea for loadshedding and off-grid applications, but very much hard work to get a full brew volume done by hand. The mechanism for ground size has no indications so needs trail and error to get to good size for different brew methods and handle screw does tend to loosen and needs to be kept tight all the time. Very fine grind for expresso will take all morning and develop some serious arm muscles too, so I will probably upgrade soon to a battery opperated burr grinder to make life that bit easier

Worth the wait – beats the load shedding sad vibes!

We had to wait for this to get back into stock, but it seems we weren't the only ones waiting... it's affordable and works great for pour-over and Aeropress brews. We spent so many mornings waking up early just to grind some beans on our Rancilio Rocky before load shedding kicked in... and then we got this beautiful object, and now we're a little less sad (and less grumpy) when it's load shedding.... Takes about 1 minute to grind 25g medium roast on a medium setting for Aeropress.

Hario Skerton Plus Grinder

A nifty little thing! I freeze the beans for a more consistent ground size (as per James Hoffmann on Youtube) and it's really easy to work. My only negative is that the glass bowl is a little too broad for my small hands (as another reviewer has already mentioned) and there is occasional discomfort. I guess I'll eventually develop more strength in the hand and it won't be an issue anymore.
