1Zpresso may be the new kids on the block, but they have made big waves in the coffee industry. This group of Taiwanese coffee-loving engineers has taken hand grinders to the next level. Eschewing the traditional trappings of the space, like glass & plastic parts and ceramic burrs, they've built an unrivalled range of robust, incredibly precise manual grinders for all applications. Their grinders all use high quality steel burrs and aluminium alloy bodies, making them as hardy as they are effective.

About the 1ZPresso Q2 S Manual Coffee Grinder

The Q2 is the highly portable offering within the 1Zpresso range. It stands just 14cm tall, with a detachable 12cm handle and a body that is narrow enough to fit inside an AeroPress. Nevertheless, it houses a 38mm stainless steel burr set which is very impressive for a grinder of its size, allowing you to grind consistently for most manual applications. It has 30 grind settings, each of which represents a change of 25 microns.

Because of its small size, light weight, and aluminium body, this is the perfect backpack grinder for any kind of travel. It will allow you to grind 15-20g of coffee at a time, ideal for pour-overs or immersion brews for one person.

Solid feel and tasty grinds

Been hunting for a hand grinder and this one seems to have a great balance of size, price and performance. Also caught out a few times during loadshedding in the morning with no grinds, so decided to get a manual one. They have newer stock with Heptagonal (7) burrs versus the original with 5 burrs. Wasn't sure till I went and got it in store... it grinds faster, and better flavour apparently. Very happy with the size, can imagine the larger ones being better for multi cup grinding, but for the full volume I packed in there to the brim (around 21g beans) it went by fairly easily with 41 clicks from 0. May try touch coarser next time for my cuor di moka pot. Only used it once and very happy! It should only get better from here as the burrs bed in. Was tastier than my electric burr grinder... though it was also a finer grind... Think I may give away my electric burr grinder. This is perfect for my every day use of 1 and sometimes 2 cups. Grind action is cutting and precise, no play in the feel as one spins it, much quieter than my electric grinder too! Nice size and finish of materials to hold, the folding handle is handy - one pushes it in by the way - took me a while to figure it out! Very solid feeling all round and also easily serviceable. Have taken it apart to look at it and clean the first grind off... very quick to pull apart and put together, good designing!

Great

I use it for my Moka pot. Excellent quality and grinds uniformly. very impressed and happy with the purchase. It will take a bit longer to grind for espresso.

Little beast!

So happy with this little grinder. Exceptional quality and so easy to operate. The granding action is suprisingly smooth. Its consistency in grinds is also second to none. Would definitely recommend this over some of the cheaper options.

Premium Grinder at a really decent price point

Compared to a lot of grinders at this price point it has an extremely premium feel and is engineered very well. I'm using it mostly for pour over and it's just perfect. On a medium to course it takes less than 30 seconds to grind. What's really nice is the amount of adjustments you essentially have, about 30 clicks per rotation and there are 3 rotations.

Best purchase to improve your manual coffee experience

I was a bit skeptical that a hand grinder would improve my coffee experience by much but it was significant. Both mouthfeel and flavour dramatically improved. I am really glad I didn't go for a cheaper grinder, having felt some of them they are like toys compared to this. I've now had the grinder for almost two months, and it has been used 3 times per day on average. I enjoy using it, it's easy to hold and grind with, someone with small hands will manage just fine with it. The 1ZPresso Q2 (EZ-presso, quite a catchy name) is really quite solid, and everything about it is well made, it feels like a tank but it's very compact. Grinding for the most part is pretty easy but this wouldn't work for espresso/Turkish as it's a lot of effort. I grind for a 4 cup Moka Express, I easily grind 18g of medium roast to medium fine in about 25 seconds, sometimes less. The grind cup screws on really smoothly, a small amount of grinds do stick to the cup and grinder. You can grind at most about 25g of beans at a time, depending on the bean size. The grind size is very uniform to the eye. My moka pot coffee is now as flavourful as most cafes. Disassembly is easy but I'd suggest watching a video on youtube on it, just remember when putting it back together that the top part threads on counterclockwise. Cleaning is easy and the included brush works well for cleaning. If you are looking for your first burr grinder for a non-espresso brew method this should probably be it.
