The Hario V60 Coffee Dripper is at the epicentre of the surging interest in specialty coffee in South Africa and across the world. In fact, to many, Hario embodies the movement that has (re)embraced hand-brewed coffee alongside the more traditional, espresso-based coffee culture. What you may not know is that alongside the V60, Hario has a wider ecosystem of pour-over drippers, brewers and accessories, each of which offers something different to explore.
Before the iconic V60, an early form of pour-over filter brewing swept Japan’s coffee house (kissaten) scene between 1920 and 1980. The method, using a cotton cloth as a filter over a glass carafe, became popularised by Ichiro Sekiguchi of Café de Lambre fame. Colloquially known as the ‘nel dripper’, originating from the word ‘flannel’, the Hario Drip Pot Wood Neck is an all-in-one pour-over system centred around its eco-friendly, cotton filter, meaning there is no need for a separate server or paper filters. All you need for a perfect brew is good coffee, and a thin-spout kettle. Featuring an elegant hourglass design, this brewer is easy to use and simple to clean, thanks to its wooden filter handle and leather-bound collar, just rinse the server and cloth with hot water between uses*.
Creating more flow restriction than paper filters, the Hario Drip Pot’s cotton flannel filter has a slower draw down than paper filter pour-overs but also lets minimal sediment through. This typically results in a cup of coffee that is clean, full-flavoured, and balanced.

Cleaning and care instructions
* For a more thorough clean of the cloth filter, you can boil it in hot water, and/or use some coffee cleaning detergent to remove all coffee residues. We would recommend doing this periodically, though not after every use, as just a hot water rinse should suffice, particularly with a little gentle dish liquid.
Please ensure that the filter is not left to dry completely, the manufacturer recommends storing the filter in water, in your fridge.
