From their workshop outside Venice, Mazzer’s team of precision engineers has developed an electronic tamper to automate coffee puck preparation for high-volume professional café environments.

The Mazzer T-Tamper is a commercial-grade barista tool designed to eliminate variables that lead to channelling, while simultaneously reducing barista fatigue and repetitive strain injuries. After inserting your portafilter, the Mazzer T-Tamper takes over, tamping your puck so you don’t have to. Unlike other automatic tampers, the Mazzer T features a 57.5mm rotating tamping head that mimics the levelling action of a distribution tool. This helps achieve a flat coffee bed whilst keeping the grounds inside the basket, significantly reducing spills.

The T-Tamper’s reliable pressure output is driven by a hefty 100w motor, with an adjustable force ranging from 10 to 35kgs. You can adjust pressure in 1kg increments in “Fast” mode that tamps once, or 0.5kg in “Precise” mode that tamps twice. Despite its power, this unit has a 14cm-wide footprint to fit cramped counters. It is compatible with almost any 58mm espresso basket, spouted or naked, thanks to an adjustable and removable cradle that can be set to perfectly fit your portafilter for easy tamping.

Built for longevity, the Mazzer T-Tamper is rated for 1.2 million cycles. To ensure unerring accuracy, an internal load cell provides constant feedback control. Safety features include inductive portafilter-detecting sensors, and a combined magnetic and mechanical locking system ensures the tamping process will not start unless the portafilter is detected and the finger guard is secure.
