Hario Mini-Slim Ceramic Coffee Mill

Hario Mini-Slim Plus Manual Coffee Grinder

This product typically takes 1-2 working days to dispatch

The Hario Mini Mill is the not too distant cousin of the Hario Skerton Coffee Grinder. Like its relative, it houses a high quality, conical ceramic burr that provides a consistent grind of a grade that only much more expensive electric machines can aspire to. It also has an adjustable grind setting making it suitable for most brew methods. Some find the adjustment process on this particular grinder easier so if you need to change settings frequently, this manual grinder could be the one for you!

Unlike some other coffee grinders, the Hario Mini Mill has no glass parts with the entire chassis made of plastic. This makes it more travel-friendly as it's less likely to be damaged in transit. Its burr is also spring-loaded, holding it in position which may lead to more consistent grind on the coarser end of the settings.

This particular coffee grinder from Hario is primarily intended for individual use as it isn't designed to hold more than 24g of ground coffee at a time (though we've found that you can fit in 30g with many coffees). This makes it deal as a travel companion to an Aeropress but perhaps less suited to grinding when brewing for multiple people.

Hario Mini-Slim Mill Plus edition

The version of the Hario Mini-Slim Mill that we currently sell is the newer 'Plus' edition. Although very similar to the original, it features some upgrades including a more attractive smoke-grey look and a reinforced hexagonal handle attachment which is less likely to strip with age.

    Good budget grinder

This is my first burr grinder and I'm feeling my way through to the perfect cup. I've been using this for just over a week now and brewing everyday. Brew methods French Press and V60. The grinder works well and I'm happy with it. Some points I have noted - adjustment is fairly easy, collector larger than feed chamber, can be tough to grind with fine setting and full load, easy to disassemble, very portable. With regards to grinding, I'm finding it is a little inconsistent on courses grinds for say French Press (12-14). With V60 (6-9) I am having trouble with clogging, but whether the grinder is at fault here, maybe I need to go courser or there are too many fines, not sure yet, need to experiment some more. Could also be the beans (Origin and Cedar decaf's.) Taste wise the V60 method had fuller taste and really nice decaf, but long drawdown and slightly bitter. Would recommend, with caveat I am just starting this journey.

    Great travel coffee grinder

The Hario Mini-Slim Plus manual coffee grinder comes as advertised. Be prepared to put in a bit of muscle power to grind enough coffee for one cup of coffee. It is made of plastic so is a great travel companion to my Aeropress. I bought a medium size toiletry zip up nylon bag that is big enough for the Hario grinder and my Aeropress and a bag of beans. It is easy to adjust the grinder and I use one step below a fine grind for the Aeropress. I recommend this product.

    Effective off-grid alternative

Very good ceramic burr grinding mechanism. Can grind just on two scoops of beans at a time. Then you need a rest while you brew your coffee. Because it’s small, it’s a little difficult to hold and grind. But it’s supposed to be small and portable. I like it, but not for every cup every day. Great for a good show if your brewing a siphon or pour-over. Adds to the drama and intrigue.
